Late Season Bow Hunting
Late Season Bow Hunting
If you have the bug as bad as I do, then getting out late season bow hunting is just the thing, especially if you still have a tag burning a hole as I still do. One thing good thing, during late season you don't have to be in the stand for hours on end. I usually get out to the blind about the last 3 hours of light. I will check my cameras though to see if there is a consistent pattern and what times the deer are coming in.
A great location to set up on is the Whitetails food source. Look for areas that have received little disturbance since mid-season and secluded feeding areas such isolated food plots or feeders that receive little attention. Areas that have had little to no hunting pressure are prime late season hunting hot spots. Soybeans are also a great source for the deer to eat once the snow hits the ground and the temperatures drop into the single digits. I love to use ground blinds during the late season. You stay warmer and you can set up right where you want to be. We have set up a couple ground blinds this year. One is right on the edge of the bean field and one is located about 15 yards off a trail that leads to the field. These are just a few tips to help you get that big buck you have been searching for.
